Having worked at both Turkish- and English-language publications for nearly two decades, I nourished my translation, editing and proofreading, content- and SEO-writing skills both in English and Turkish to an advanced level while also boosted my management talents both for production. Turkish, my mother tongue, is the language I learned at birth and my Turkish along with English skills have been elevated to a higher degree during my professional past as well as my academic education. While spending a total of over 10 years in senior positions as translator, writer, managing editor, coordinator and project manager in tense working environments, I have consistently demonstrated excellent teamwork skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines. Over the course of my career, I have closely followed major technological events of the last decade, which equipped me with a vast background resource for the current state of developing technologies in addition to a solid linguistic background.
My name is Burcu Demirörs. I am a native Turkish and I translate from EN to TR, TR to EN, DE to TR, and DE to EN. I have 11 years of experience in translation and interpreting, also in localisation, proofreading, and editing.
I have worked as a freelance translator for over 7 years. In addition, I have an extensive work history in the e-Commerce industry, whereby I have gained specialization in localization, SEO, SEM, copywriting and advertising.
I look forward to being able to meet and forge working relationships with respectable clients.
Through my work as a journalist and foreign-service officer I have had the privilege of observing and participating in the worlds of policy making and diplomacy at a high level. During my career at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, I was entrusted with some important responsibilities and gained deep insights into ethnic and minority issues in southeastern Europe, as well as broader questions of human rights and their relationship with diplomacy. I worked for TRT and I had the chance to work for one of the most prestigious weekly business magazines. As a result of these work experiences I have also gained skills in preparing written and visual content, which I believe would be another major asset I can offer to the organization I am working for. Also, since the beginning of 2017 I have been translating “Harvard Business Review”s articles into Turkish for HBR Turkish edition. I feel that I have valuable skills to offer as an content writer and a translator.
