Smartcat is an integrated solution for managing translation projects that provides a convenient workspace for translators and editors.
It is designed to reduce editing costs and increase the speed and accuracy of the translation process.
The core resources that boost your productivity when using Smartcat are:
•Translation memories (TM) which serve as storage for your translations, and which save time when translating identical or similar sentences.
•Glossaries are collections of terms, translation variants, definitions, comments and additional information. Glossaries help ensure consistency in terminology and save you time when you encounter these terms while translating.
•Machine translation (MT) is a software-generated translation that you can check and edit.
•Dictionaries are provided by ABBYY Lingvo, available both in the main workspace and in the Editor where you work with texts.
As opposed to machine translation and dictionaries, you create and build up glossaries and translation memories yourself. They will only be available to you and whomever you grant access.
Smartcat supports the following formats: BMP, DCX, dita, DJV, DJVU, DOC, DOCX, GIF, HTM, HTML, inc, INX, IDML, JB2, JFIF, JP2, JPC, JPEG, JPG, JSON, tjson, odp, odt, potx, pps, ppsx, pot, properties, PCX, PDF, PNG, PO, PPT, PPTX, RESX, RTF, SDLXLIFF, strings, SRT, TIF, TIFF, TTX, TXT, XLF, XLIFF, XLS, XLSX, XML, strings from PHP arrays, and also SDL Trados Packages.
To upload documents for translation into the system, you need to create a project and choose the resources (glossaries, translation memories, machine translation) to be used in the project. You can set up the workflow and assign tasks to users. Actual work with text is done in the Editor. On the project page you can download the translated documents, statistics, and a quality report.
